Research & Policy Intern

Role Description

As a Research & Policy Intern, you will assist in analyzing migration policies, conducting research, and supporting advocacy efforts to improve the lives of migrants.

Policy Research: Conduct research on migration-related policies and legal frameworks.
Data Collection: Gather and analyze data to support evidence-based advocacy.
Report Writing: Assist in drafting reports, policy briefs, and recommendations.
Stakeholder Engagement: Support communication with policymakers and advocacy partners.
Legislative Monitoring: Track and analyze changes in migration laws and policies.

Time Commitment: Flexible, with a minimum of 10 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma plus a diploma in a relevant area (or associate degree).
Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, social sciences, or related fields (preferred but not required).
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Ability to conduct independent research and analyze policy documents.
Commitment to supporting migrant rights and integration policies.

Preferred Skills & Experience

Experience in research, policy analysis, or advocacy work.
Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, SPSS, or similar).
Familiarity with migration laws, human rights, and social policy frameworks.

Language Requirements

Fluency in the local language of your canton (French, German, Italian, or Romansh).
Basic proficiency in English for internal communication at IaMig.
Additional language pairs such as Arabic or Spanish are a plus.

Experience Level

Applicants with an associate degree or diploma in the field are eligible.
Bachelor's degree holders with some relevant experience are preferred.
Previous internship or volunteer experience in research or policy is valued.
