Role Description
The Mentorship Program at IaMig connects experienced professionals with migrants to provide guidance and support in their journey of integration and career development.
- Provide Support: Offer mentorship and advice based on your expertise.
- Career Guidance: Assist with job searching, skill development, and networking.
- Cultural Integration: Help migrants navigate cultural differences and social inclusion.
- Regular Meetings: Participate in scheduled mentorship sessions and workshops.
- Encouragement and Motivation: Inspire mentees to achieve their goals.
Time Commitment: Flexible, with a minimum of 4 hours per month.
Location: Online and in-person options available.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
- Master’s degree holders are encouraged to apply; no prior experience required.
- Any relevant training or previous mentoring experience is an advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to supporting migrant integration and well-being.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Previous experience working with migrants or culturally diverse groups.
- Knowledge of job search strategies, career counseling, or networking techniques.
- Familiarity with challenges faced by migrants during integration.
Language Requirements
- Fluency in the local language of your canton (French, German, Italian, or Romansh).
- Basic proficiency in English for internal communication at IaMig.
- Additional language pairs, such as Arabic or Spanish, are a plus.
Experience Level
- Minimum of 2 years for high school diploma holders.
- Minimum of 1 year for bachelor's degree holders.
- No experience required for master’s degree holders.
- Volunteer experience in community support is highly valued.
