Role Description

Our Language Teaching volunteers support migrants by delivering engaging and effective language lessons to improve their communication skills and enhance their integration into Swiss society.

  • Teaching Support: Conduct structured lessons in French, German, Italian, English, or other languages.
  • Curriculum Development: Assist in designing lesson plans and learning materials.
  • Assessment: Help assess students' progress and provide feedback.
  • One-on-One Tutoring: Provide personalized support to learners with specific needs.
  • Cultural Awareness: Incorporate cultural elements to help migrants better understand local customs.

Time Commitment: Flexible, with a minimum of 6 hours per month.

Location: Online and in-person options available.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Master’s degree holders are encouraged to apply; no prior experience required.
  • Passion for language education and cultural exchange.
  • Commitment to supporting migrant learners in their integration journey.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience in teaching, tutoring, or language coaching.
  • Familiarity with language teaching methodologies and tools.
  • Ability to create interactive and engaging lesson plans.

Language Requirements

  • Fluency in the local language of your canton (French, German, Italian, or Romansh).
  • Basic proficiency in English for internal communication at IaMig.
  • Additional language pairs such as Arabic or Spanish are a plus.

Experience Level

  • Minimum of 2 years for high school diploma holders.
  • Minimum of 1 year for bachelor's degree holders.
  • No experience required for master’s degree holders.
  • Volunteer experience in education or community work is highly valued.
